EXDIGIT Retreat at the Salzburg Open-Air Museum

This year’s annual EXDIGIT retreat took place on 30 June 2026 at the new Visitor Centre of the Salzburg Open-Air Museum in Großgmain.

We also share a connection with the Open-Air Museum through a joint pilot project, funded by the Land Salzburg, on the semantic linking of information (more on this here).

The EXDIGIT project has now passed the halfway point of its duration, and the retreat was therefore held under the theme “Entering the Next Phase.” Following a keynote presentation on the project’s framework conditions and a progress review by the scientific project leadership, the workshop focused on developing a shared vision—from the individual perspectives of the researchers, to group visions, and ultimately to the key pillars of an overarching project vision.

One of the main priorities for the coming months will be the intensified acquisition of third-party funding. To conclude the programme, representatives from Start-Up Salzburg delivered a presentation on Exploitation and Transfer, with a particular focus on assets and impact.

The day concluded with drinks, snacks, and engaging conversations at the museum restaurant Salettl.
