As part of its Science and Innovation Strategy (WISS) 2030, the state of Salzburg has set specific priorities in the field of digital transformation with its call for proposals \u201cAI Research Salzburg 2025.\u201d The call for proposals was aimed at researchers from Salzburg’s universities and non-university research institutions who wish to carry out interdisciplinary projects at the interface between basic research and application-oriented research.<\/p>\n
The submitted projects were evaluated by an international jury, and the RAPID project was successful.<\/p>\n
RAPID: Reliable AI for Public Law and Intelligent Decision-making<\/strong> RAPID investigates the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in public administration.<\/strong> With its interdisciplinary collaboration between legal and digital sciences, RAPID is also another result of the Exdigit initiative funded by the state of Salzburg.<\/p>\n The DAS Faculty<\/a> has also been successful with the following two projects:<\/p>\n INSPIRE: Intelligent Novel Support for Personalized Instruction and Robust Evaluation in STEM Lessons at Primary School<\/strong>.

\nUsing concrete application examples, the legal framework and technical possibilities for the use of large language models (LLMs) in administration are analyzed. The focus is on the automation of repetitive tasks, e.g., checking the completeness of applications for heating subsidies or housing allowances. In the process, different data protection-friendly LLMs with their respective strengths and weaknesses are researched and evaluated in an interdisciplinary manner.
\nOn the part of the DAS faculty, extensive experimental and prototype-based investigations into administration-specific LLM adaptation, which also meets the special legal requirements prevailing in this field, are being carried out.<\/p>\n
