University professor Christine Bauer in an interview with the SN: Lack of women in MINT

Women are still very much underrepresented in MINT disciplines, with only 20% of the workforce. In an interview with SN, female researchers share their experiences with gender stereotypes in science. They report prejudices and a lack of recognition of their skills. Nevertheless, they emphasize the importance of MINT subjects for the future, especially in areas such as climate protection and the energy transition. It is shown that more diversity and spaces for experience in MINT are needed for young people, especially women, from kindergarten to university. There are already initiatives in Salzburg that aim to break down these barriers and promote diversity in MINT research.
